The Auto and Transport Workers' Union AKT will join the sympathy strike starting November 18 if the labor dispute between Posti and PAU is not resolved before then.

The Finnish Seafarers' Union joined the sympathy strike on Thursday, November 14, and from Monday, November 18, the Union will not allow Posti's shipments on their ships. Cargo traffic is planned to stop on Sweden-bound ships from next Thursday, November 21. The Finnish Seafarers' Union's sympathy strike may affect road transport services abroad. The Finnish Aviation Union IAU's support measures, which began on November 11, affect Posti's international air transport, with delays particularly in services outside the EU. We recommend avoiding Posti's Priority and EMS packages outside the EU.
PAU's strike actions have largely slowed down or even stopped Posti's letter deliveries, we recommend avoiding Small Packages sent as letter mail.
The exact impact on international road transport is still difficult to assess, and the effects of AKT's sympathy strike are also hard to predict. We recommend preparing for delays in Posti's services.
Until November 15, Posti's parcel services have operated relatively normally in larger cities, with delays occurring in smaller locations. According to Posti, postal packages between Posti points and parcel lockers are moving normally.
For online retailers, we recommend keeping Posti packages available and adding complementary transport services domestically, such as Matkahuolto's nearby package or DB Schenker's pickup point package. More about international shipments below.

Effects on other transport companies
Pickup courier services from UPS and FedEx are not affected by the sympathy strikes, and UPS shipments can also be left at UPS Access points for delivery. Express shipments move with transport companies' own aircraft, so sympathy strikes do not affect these services.
Initially, GLS and PostNord international traffic also operates normally.
EDIT: 20.11.2019 GLS and PostNord services also expected to experience disruptions with departures from November 25. The strike does not affect GLS services in the Tampere, Turku, and metropolitan areas for pickup services. If the shipment needs to be taken to a Posti point or picked up outside these aforementioned areas, there may be delays in pickups and deliveries.
Domestically, the following services operate normally: DB Schenker, Matkahuolto, and PostNord parcel services and freight.
Internationally EDIT: 20.11.2019 18:00 For international shipments, we recommend using UPS Express and FedEx services, road transport may experience delays. we recommend using FedEx, PostNord, and UPS services, and GLS also operates normally as a pickup service from Helsinki metropolitan area, Turku, and Tampere regions. Private individuals can also use UPS services abroad through Shipit.
Other transport companies may experience delays due to increased parcel volumes.
We at Shipit hope the parties reach an agreement as quickly as possible. Although Posti packages are moving relatively normally, the strike situation has been widely reported and this may affect especially small online stores' sales. We recommend informing about the situation at the store checkout and, if necessary, guiding customers about the normal flow of basic online store parcel traffic. Additionally, it's good to add complementary services if location permits.
