Start creating your shipment by entering your own postal code, if you're sending the parcel from your home area.
Enter the recipient's postal code in the correct format. Different countries and regions use different postal code formats, which sometimes include letters and spaces as well.
Enter the parcel's dimensions: length, width, and height in centimeters, along with the weight in kilograms. If the same shipment to the same recipient includes several parcels, add as many parcels as needed in the counter and fill in the size details for each. You can change the sizes, even though the system defaults the following parcels to the same dimensions as the first one.
Choose a suitable delivery method which carrier you want, and whether you'd like the parcel delivered to the door or to a pickup point. Note that many options require a printer, so you can print the waybill and, in some cases, the proforma invoice to attach to the parcel, depending on where you're sending it.
Once you select a delivery method, a service description opens up, showing you how to handle that particular shipment. It tells you whether you need a printer, whether the parcel will be picked up from your home, or where to take it or it shows a dropdown menu of drop-off points and the recipient's pickup locations. You can find UPS drop-off points at Find Locations | UPS - Finland.
Enter the sender's and recipient's details. Don't forget phone numbers, since parcel arrival notifications are most often sent by text message and/or email. Also fill in what the parcel contains, such as "clothing," "toys," "electronics," etc.
If you're shipping outside the EU, at this stage you'll also fill in the information needed for the commercial invoice/proforma/Posti export form. This must be filled in in English and covers the products, their weight and value, as well as the total weight and total value. The reason for export is also entered here.
Confirm that you are not shipping any dangerous goods.
Proceed to payment. When logged in on our site, you can activate a Shipit wallet, where you can deposit money from your online bank and pay for all your shipments from there. Alternatively, you can always pay for a shipment using your online banking credentials, MobilePay, or your credit card. If you're shipping under your company's name and your company is based in Finland, you can contact customer service to request invoicing as a business customer, allowing you to send all your company's parcels on a single invoice.
Once you've confirmed payment, the shipment is created and the shipping documents open up for you to print and attach to the parcel. If you're shipping outside the EU, you'll also get to print the proforma/commercial invoice to attach to the parcel, and in the case of UPS, send it along with your personal ID/business ID by email to UPS for customs clearance.
Remember to pack the shipment really well and securely, and attach the documents to the outside of the package so the barcode is clearly visible. The proforma/commercial invoice can be folded and placed on the parcel, for example in a plastic pouch, or taped to it folded.
Take the parcel to the drop-off point specified by your chosen delivery method, or arrange a pickup if that's included in the service description. Remember to send UPS the necessary information by email.
Track your shipment on your chosen carrier's website using the tracking number, which you received by email after placing your order.
