Christmas 2019 is approaching. With Shipit, you can send your Christmas packages both domestically and internationally. This year, the latest shipping date for domestic and European deliveries is as late as Friday, December 20th.

Important Considerations When Shipping
Due to increased shipping volumes during the holiday season, delivery times should be considered approximate. For example, bad weather and high package volumes can easily delay shipments.
If you order home delivery, please note that shipping companies do not have access to locked premises. In such cases, it's good to ensure that your chosen delivery service includes a call before delivery.
The Shipping Company May Reroute Your Package
If the selected pickup point at the receiving end is full, the shipping company may reroute the shipment to a different pickup point to avoid delays.
Mobile Phone Number is Important
Shipping companies inform the recipient either by phone or email when the shipment is ready for pickup – for home deliveries, the recipient will be contacted to arrange a delivery time. Remember to ask for the recipient's mobile phone number before creating the shipment! If the mobile number is missing, delivery may be delayed and, in the worst case, Christmas package delivery may be postponed until after Christmas.
We recommend also entering the recipient's email address so they will receive a delivery confirmation with the shipment tracking code.
About Shipping
Although decorative gift wrapping would be a nice surprise for the recipient, it is often very impractical in package shipping. Decorative packaging can easily tear, causing the address label to come off the package, and the shipment may either get lost or be completely delayed.
Remember the following points when shipping:
Create the shipment electronically and firmly attach the printed address label to the package so that the barcode is clearly visible. This reduces errors and ensures package delivery.
Factory packaging is often not sufficient for package shipping.
International shipments cannot contain loose batteries or easily flammable liquids (such as perfumes).

Package Deliveries to Pickup Points and Parcel Lockers
You can send your packages to pickup points or parcel lockers using the following Shipit services:

Matkahuolto Nearby Package (pickup points and parcel lockers)
Matkahuolto Bus Package (Matkahuolto offices and agents, package automatically routes to the nearest point based on customer's postal code)
Posti Postal Package (pickup points and lockers)
Home Deliveries
You can deliver Christmas packages directly to the recipient's door with the following services:
Posti Small Package (delivered to recipient's mail slot)
Matkahuolto Home Delivery: Delivery is arranged in advance with the recipient.
Posti Home Package: Delivery is arranged in advance with the recipient, delivery by 9 PM.
Posti Express: Suitable for private customers but delivery is not arranged in advance with the recipient. Express package delivery occurs by 4 PM.
Package Storage Times
Posti: Postal package storage times have changed and are now 7 days.
Matkahuolto: packages are stored at pickup points for 14 days, in parcel lockers for 7 days.
DB Schenker: packages are stored at pickup points for 14 days
Last Shipping Dates
Shipping company services are not always scheduled, and delivery times are often approximate.
Please don't wait until the last shipping date to send your Christmas packages!
Domestic
DB Schenker
Send packages through Shipit no later than December 16.
For DB Schenker pickup point packages ordered through Shipit, we recommend December 16 as the last shipping date and before the collection time of the respective shipping point.
DB Schenker's pickup and drop-off points operate at selected K-Markets and R-Kiosks. The pickup point package service has nearly 1000 pickup points across Finland.

Matkahuolto
Send packages through Shipit no later than December 19.
With Matkahuolto, you can send your packages to over 300 parcel lockers and nearly 1700 pickup points across Finland. Matkahuolto's drop-off points include Matkahuolto offices, official Matkahuolto agents, parcel lockers, and business points (currently not all stores and kiosks).
Matkahuolto estimates December 19 as the last shipping date for packages to be delivered before Christmas. Exception: Matkahuolto Express Package, which is scheduled at the time of shipping and delivered via the fastest possible route to the recipient.

Posti
Send packages through Shipit no later than December 20.
With Postal Package, you can send your packages to over 1400 parcel lockers and 2200 pickup points across Finland. With home delivery, delivery is arranged with the recipient and completed by 9 PM. For daytime or business deliveries, Posti Express Package is also suitable, delivering by 4 PM.
Posti estimates Friday, December 20 as the last shipping date. Exception: Small Packages delivered to mail slots which must be sent no later than December 19.
Exceptions in freight services (does not apply to package services).
December 23: delivery and pickups according to orders. Packages picked up then will be delivered in week 1.
December 27 and 31: no pickup and delivery traffic.
Operations will resume normal schedules from January 2, 2020.
International
Important considerations when shipping internationally:
Shipments often travel through multiple countries, so weather conditions can cause delays.
As a private individual, you can use GLS, Posti and UPS:n palveluita ulkomaille lähettäessäsi.
This year you can also use Shipit's UPS Access Point services. At best, UPS Access Point shipments move between points in Europe in as little as one business day.
Below are Posti's recommendations for last shipping dates internationally:
Posti Priority to Sweden, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania by Monday December 16.
Rest of Europe by Friday December 13.
Other countries December 5. Note that especially for more distant countries (e.g., African countries), delivery times are often over three weeks with Posti services.
