Deliveries outside the EU to arrive by Christmas
With Shipit you can send packages around the world during Christmas time, including to Australia and New Zealand. This year there are significantly more deviations in Christmas time deliveries compared to previous years. For example, Posti instructs to send non-EU shipments by Sunday, November 15th at the latest. However, through Shipit the schedule is more flexible for both businesses and private individuals, and for example with UPS services, packages outside the EU can move in just a few days at best. This year it's particularly important to be careful when choosing the shipping method to ensure Christmas packages arrive well in time.
Christmas time deliveries in domestic and EU area
The last shipping day of 2020 for domestic deliveries is Monday, December 21st and for EU area Tuesday, December 22nd (please note regional exceptions). However, we recommend sending early and preparing for possible delays due tocoronavirus and increased package volumes. It's not recommended to leave shipping until the very last moment.

Remember recipient's phone number and email
Depending on the service, carriers will contact customers to arrange or notify about delivery. Missing phone number or email can delay delivery and in worst case postpone delivery until after Christmas. Shipit also sends tracking number to recipient by email, allowing recipient to track the shipment.
Package storage times
Storage time for all domestic services is generally 7 days. DB Schenker pickup point packages are stored at pickup points for 14 days.
2020 has not been a normal shipping year - there are more things to consider than usual!
Check your drop-off point collection times to ensure your package moves forward the same day
Allow longer delivery time for packages: coronavirus, weather conditions and significantly increased package traffic can delay deliveries
International road transport often passes through multiple countries, so weather conditions can delay shipments
For non-EU shipments, fill out commercial/proforma invoice through Shipit (for UPS shipments also send your social security number to UPS for export clearance)
Packages ordered to pickup points may be redirected if parcel lockers are full
Carriers have no schedule guarantees due to coronavirus
Courier services are the only way to send your package outside the EU after Sunday November 15th. This is possible through Shipit with UPS and Shipit services - businesses also have FedEx express delivery services
Due to coronavirus restrictions, businesses and certain pickup points in Europe and globally may be closed - please check in advance where the receiving company wants the shipment. For example, due to remote work, the recipient may want the package delivered to their home address

Pickup point packages should be sent by Tuesday December 15th at latest if sending from pickup point
DB Schenker pickup services generally arrive when sent on Monday December 21st
Matkahuolto
Bus, nearby and XXS packages must be sent by Monday December 21st at latest. Nearby packages and XXS packages also support sending without address label and can be picked up with activation code from Matkahuolto points, Matkahuolto agents, stores and kiosks
Matkahuolto Home Delivery and Distribution Package December 18th
Matkahuolto Express Package arrives depending on sending and destination even when sent on Wednesday December 23rd (check transport time before sending 020 710 5024 Mon-Fri 08-18)
Matkahuolto offices open December 1st-24th with extended hours on Saturdays 10am-4pm and Christmas Eve 8am-12pm
Matkahuolto delivers packages for pickup seven days a week from late November until Christmas. On Saturdays packages are delivered to pickup points in e.g. Greater Helsinki area, Tampere, Turku, Oulu, Jyväskylä, Lahti, Kuopio, Pori, Kouvola, Joensuu, Lappeenranta, Vaasa, Hämeenlinna, Rovaniemi, Seinäjoki, Mikkeli and Kotka. Packages are also delivered to pickup points on Sundays in Greater Helsinki area, Tampere and Turku
Posti
Last shipping day for domestic Posti packages is Monday December 21st
For shipments outside EU we recommend using other shipping services than Posti after Sunday November 15th
International
GLS- and UPS-services generally still operate on normal schedule. GLS estimates Tuesday December 15th as last shipping day across Europe (excluding certain remote areas). Check more detailed UPS delivery times here > For businesses also FedEx- and Postnord services still operate generally normally. Carriers currently have no schedule guarantees and regional exceptions may occur.
Posti shipments outside EU should not be sent after Tuesday November 15th, so we recommend using courier shipments for these. Note that couriers also operate very quickly to Europe depending on region even during Christmas time. There are small delays and regional exceptions but you can check more detailed schedule here.
