As of March 15, 2022, Posti has decided to temporarily suspend international express delivery services i.e., express letters and goods shipments (EMS shipments) to Russia and Belarus. All shipments other than express letters and EMS shipments continue to operate normally.
The suspension is due to Russia's military actions in Ukraine. Postal traffic between Russia and Finland and Belarus and Finland is a statutory obligation for Posti. The Ministry of Transport and Communications represents Finland in the Universal Postal Union (UPU), and the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency (Traficom) is the authority supervising Posti's operations. The suspended express delivery services are outside Posti's statutory obligation.
At the beginning of the war in Ukraine, Posti's transport connections to Ukraine and from Ukraine to Europe were completely cut off. Transport connections were restored on March 3, 2022, using alternative routes. Posti's goal is to deliver letters and packages to Ukraine with minimal delay.
