First in Finland, first in the world!
In reducing emissions, the most ambitious goal is zero, and the most respected body to ensure that targets follow climate science is the Science Based Targets initiative. SBTi has now approved Posti's net-zero targets as the first company in Finland, Sweden, and the Baltics, the first logistics company globally, and among the first 17 companies worldwide.
Posti's science-based emission reduction targets:
➞ By 2030, Posti will reduce its total emissions (scope 1, 2 & 3) by 50 percent from 2020 levels
➞ Posti aims to achieve this goal by having zero emissions in its own operations (scope 1 & 2) and achieving 100% fossil-free road transport also in the value chain by 2030.
➞ By 2040, Posti will be net-zero in all its operations (scope 1, 2 & 3).
"According to the IPCC, limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees is still possible, but we are dangerously close to this limit. According to SBTi, it is extremely important that companies at least halve their emissions by the end of this decade and achieve net-zero by 2050. Posti is committed to net-zero already by 2040, and we want to encourage all companies to join",
