GLS - for a greener future

"We think and act environmentally friendly in all areas of the company: from traffic planning and buildings to individual workplaces. Environmental officers in all GLS national subsidiaries ensure the implementation of group-wide environmental protection measures."

Regarding vehicle emissions, GLS aims to have half of all newly acquired delivery vehicles using electricity or lower-emission alternative fuels by 2030, and all of them by 2035.

Already, GLS operates many low-emission and zero-emission deliveries, and packages in city centers are distributed in over 60 different cities using electric or electric-assisted vans, bicycles, and scooters. One of these cities is in Finland, where GLS delivers and collects shipments in Turku's city center using an electric van in GLS's own colors.
In addition, GLS's delivery partners also have other vehicles using electricity or alternative fuels across Finland.

GLS aims to achieve zero emissions by 2045, and until then, GLS compensates for all emissions that cannot yet be avoided. All GLS European companies offset their carbon dioxide emissions in cooperation with ClimateParter starting from April 1, 2022.

GLS's environmental and quality management is certified according to ISO 14001 and ISO 9001. Additionally, the international research company EcoVadis has rated GLS's sustainability at the EcoVadis Gold level, meaning that GLS ranks among the top five percent of companies evaluated by EcoVadis in terms of corporate responsibility.
