We previously informed about the strike warning by the Auto and Transport Workers' Union AKT, which affects, among others, 17 trucking companies and 15 terminal companies. DB Schenker and Vähälä Companies are among these companies involved in the industrial action, so potential strike-related delays will also affect their services.
A potential strike by drivers and terminal staff would significantly slow down imports and exports as well as domestic transport
DB Schenker announces that they will try to keep their production running as much as possible during the industrial action.
In transport, DB Schenker prioritizes socially important products such as medicines and food.
Due to staff shortages and route changes, transport may experience delays deviating from the schedule.
Due to transport prioritization and disruptions, the DB SCHENKERsystem premium transport time guarantee and other pre-scheduled pickups and deliveries cannot be guaranteed on schedule.
DB Schenker has also indicated the possibility of implementing a separate strike surcharge if the industrial action causes significant additional costs.
In addition to these strikes, AKT has initiated an overtime ban in the stevedoring industry at all ports starting February 1st at 6 AM
As the stevedores' overtime ban continues, it will begin to slow down Finland's import and export transport using shipping connections to Sweden, Germany, Estonia, and Poland. During the stevedores' work stoppage, loose trailers will not be loaded onto or unloaded from ships. Without stevedoring work, transporting trailers requires the use of a complete vehicle combination and driver, which significantly increases costs.
