Updated March 1st, 2023

The Auto and Transport Workers' Union AKT has accepted the conciliation proposal in the labor dispute concerning the truck transport sector, terminal operations, and tank and oil product sector. This means that the previously announced work stoppages in these sectors are cancelled.

  • Posti services operate normally.

  • DB Schenker services operate normally

  • Matkahuolto delivers packages normally despite the bus personnel strike

The strike continues in ports, meaning PostNord's exceptional surcharge for international shipments remains in effect until the port strike ends.

  • PostNord: PostNord implements an exceptional surcharge for international shipments during the strike. From March 1st, PostNord adds a +10% exceptional situation surcharge on top of normal shipping prices. PostNord's exceptional situation surcharge remains in effect until the strike ends.

The Auto and Transport Workers' Union AKT has issued new strike notices. If agreements are not reached, new strikes in the truck transport sector, service repair shops, and tank truck sector will begin on March 1st at 03:00 and end on March 8th at 03:00. You can find detailed listings of companies affected by the strike here.

What does the strike affect?

The stevedores' strike mainly affects import and export freight going through ports.

How the strike affects our courier partners

According to transport companies' announcements, the strike affects at least Posti's domestic and international shipments and PostNord's international shipments.

Posti: According to Posti's current estimate, the strike's biggest impacts will be on freight transport, where delays could be several days. Effects on packages and paper mail will be smaller, with possible local delays.

PostNord: PostNord implements an exceptional surcharge for international shipments during the strike. From March 1st, PostNord adds a +10% exceptional situation surcharge on top of normal shipping prices. PostNord's exceptional situation surcharge remains in effect until the strike ends.

DB Schenker: According to DB Schenker's announcement, the strike may result in delivery delays. DB Schenker aims to serve customers as well as possible during this exceptional situation and transport all shipments according to schedule, but delays should be expected. After the strikes, the situation will return to normal within about 3-8 days. DB Schenker continues to prioritize socially important products like medicines and food.
