On Thursday, December 14, up to 100,000 workers will strike at various workplaces across Finland. The strike is part of SAK's campaign opposing government reforms to working life and social security. Postal distribution will also go on strike this Thursday, and the Auto and Transport Workers' Union AKT has announced its participation in the December 14 work stoppage.
Matkahuolto
The possible bus strike will not affect Matkahuolto's deliveries, as Matkahuolto no longer uses its bus network for shipment transportation. Packages can be sent normally, and the strike will not impact package delivery.
Posti
The Postal and Logistics Union (PAU) will participate in the strike day, putting postal distribution on strike for the entire day. Posti's emergency situation manager Jarmo Ainasoja assures that the disruption is expected to be short-term, and Posti's services will normalize quickly after the strike days. Shipments can be sent normally, and packages and Christmas cards will arrive in time for Christmas.
The potential PAU strike does not affect other shipping companies' operations!
PostNord
PostNord announces that the December 14 strike will not affect the company's domestic deliveries or export shipments. However, actions targeting ports may likely impact PostNord's import shipments.
DB Schenker
Schenker Oy announces that the possible work stoppage on December 14 will cause disruptions to transportation. The company will try to maintain its production as much as possible, but due to staff shortages, delays may occur in domestic transport. After the work stoppage, impacts are also expected on import and export shipments via ship connections to Sweden, Germany, Estonia, and Poland. Additionally, during the work stoppage, loose trailers will not be loaded onto or unloaded from ships, which may cause delays in transport schedules.
Bring | FedEx
Bring and FedEx announce that the December 14 work stoppages will not affect their services.
GLS | UPS
GLS and UPS announce that their services will operate normally on Thursday, December 14, but there may be delays in pickups in certain remote areas.
We are actively monitoring the situation and will inform about any changes.
