Matkahuolto will introduce several changes to its parcel services in spring 2026. All changes will take effect on 2 March 2026 and will also apply to Matkahuolto shipments sent via Shipit.
Storage time shortened to five days
The storage time for Matkahuolto parcels in parcel lockers and pickup points will be reduced from seven days to five days.
If the shipment details do not include the recipient’s phone number or email address, the arrival notification will be sent by letter. In these cases, the parcel storage time will be 14 days, allowing enough time for the postal notification to reach the recipient.
The aim of this change is to improve parcel circulation and ensure that as many parcels as possible can be delivered to the recipient’s preferred pickup point, even during peak seasons. According to Matkahuolto, 97% of parcels are already collected within five days, but the most popular pickup points and parcel lockers can become congested, especially during busy periods.
Increased weight limits for parcel services to Estonia
The maximum weight for Near Parcel (Lähellä-paketti), Customer Returns, and Home Delivery services to Estonia will increase from 20 kg to 30 kg.
If your webshop or system uses country-specific weight or size limits, these should be updated to reflect the new limits.
Updated maximum dimensions for parcel locker shipments
As Matkahuolto’s parcel locker network continues to expand, the range of locker types and compartment sizes has increased. As a result, the maximum size for parcels sent to parcel lockers will be updated.
The new maximum dimensions are:
56 cm × 56 cm × 40 cm
