Matkahuolto is introducing changes to its parcel services from the beginning of July. We've gathered together the updates that affect Shipit customers.
Show parcel locker and service point as separate options at checkout
Matkahuolto is splitting the Lähellä parcel into two separate delivery methods: parcel locker and service point. We recommend displaying these as distinct options at checkout – it improves the customer experience and boosts conversion by making it easy for shoppers to find the delivery method they prefer.
Parcel lockers are by far the most popular delivery method, and the majority of Finns prefer to use them. For this reason, Matkahuolto is increasing the maximum dimensions for parcel locker deliveries: the new maximum size is 60 cm × 60 cm × 40 cm, meaning larger shipments can now be routed directly to a locker. Please note that compartment sizes vary by locker location.
Your prices stay the same as a Shipit customer
Matkahuolto is moving to location-based pricing: the price for deliveries to service points will increase by €0.20 per parcel from 1 July. With a Shipit contract, this increase does not apply to you – your prices remain unchanged regardless of the pickup point type.
WhatsApp replaces SMS for arrival notifications
Matkahuolto is gradually moving parcel arrival notifications to WhatsApp. Delivery time slot selections for home deliveries will switch to WhatsApp messages from the beginning of June, with arrival notifications following during the summer after a pilot period. Over 90% of Finnish smartphone users use WhatsApp, so messages will reach recipients more reliably than before. SMS notifications will continue for those who do not use WhatsApp.
