Inspection of shipment and goods upon receipt.
Important information on how to proceed when receiving a shipment.
Before signing for the receipt of the shipment, check the shipment carefully and if you notice any discrepancies e.g. in the condition of the shipment or missing items, make a RESERVATION (a remark) i.e. note on the waybill. If the shipment has damages, note your observations on the waybill. This enables filing a claim with the transport company, without a RESERVATION it is impossible to verify that the shipment was damaged at the time of receipt. This must absolutely happen before you sign for the receipt of the shipment and each page of the waybill must have the notation, including the copy retained by the transport company. This is defined in the Road Transport Contract Act.
If the transport company uses an electronic signing device, please ask the driver to make a note of the exception in the device before signing.
When receiving the freight, the recipient must check if the information marked on the waybill matches the number of packages ordered. The recipient must make a reservation on the waybill and state the reason for the reservation. Reservations and their reasons must also be marked on the waybill if there are any noticeable issues with the condition of the goods or packaging. A reservation is therefore a note indicating that the goods and waybill information differ from each other. If a waybill is used and the carrier has not marked a reservation and its reason on the waybill, it is usually considered that the visible condition of the goods and packaging was good at the time of receipt and that the number and condition of packages were in accordance with the waybill markings.
